Five Mile Reserve - Narrandera

This reserve is a part of the Bundidjarie Creek and its associated wetlands.

Access: When heading north as you enter Narrandera, turn right at Twynam Street, continue east into Victoria Avenue, past the sports ground, 5 miles out. The road becomes good gravel all weather road. This is a popular camping and waterskiing area in summer.

You will find shallow wetlands surrounded by Red Gums (Eucalyptus Camaldulensis) with cumbungi, native grasses, eleochilis and lignum which are habitat to Spoonbills, Ibis (including Glossy Ibis), Dotterels, many species ducks, and Swamp and Native Hens. White Bellied Sea Eagles and Whistling Kites are often seen. Red Gums provide nesting hollows for Yellow Rosellas, Eastern Rosellas, Cockatiels, Superb Parrots and Barking Owls. Deeper water to the right provides ideal habitat for Cormorants, Darters and Herons.

The travelling stock reserve is open to passive recreation like walking and bird watching.

Facilities include: A pit toilet at the waterskiing area and a sandy beach area associated with the boat ramp. Camping is allowed here.
