Murrumbidgee Field Naturalists
A little known, and newly created, reserve based in the Coleambally Irrigation Area of New South Wales.
The reserve comprises 10 parcels of land that have seen minimal disturbance from the past generation of rice farming in the area. The parcels of land along the Kidman Way are marked with signage and are worth stopping at to have a look. You will find more details about the reserve if you stop at the Lions Park at Coleambally. My map (in .pdf format) is not very clear, but gives you an idea of the spread of the parcels.
Boree (Acacia pendula) dominates most parcels. You will also find stands of cypress and black box closer to water courses.
The Murrumbidgee Field Naturalists have made a number of visits to the sites and are compiling bird lists. These will be made available here when they are ready.
